It was been reported that Warner Bros is eyeing Ben Affleck for the directorial job on DC Comic’s “Justice League”
Since directing “The Town” for Warner Bros. in 2010, Affleck has become one of the studio’s go-to directors. He’s got the highly anticipated “Argo” debuting this fall — the film will launch at the Toronto International Film Festival in September — and was attached to direct an adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Stand” for the studio as well.
The Justice League is DC’s version of ‘The Avengers,’ a superhero super group composed of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter. Over the years, the group has also included Green Arrow, Black Canary, Hawkman and several members of the Green Lanterns.
The hope is that “Justice League” would do for DC Comics what “Marvel’s The Avengers” did for Disney and Marvel. The film would combine Superman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman into one property. However, unlike “The Avengers,” Warner Bros. and DC haven’t laid down an infrastructure with previous films; any “Justice League” movie wouldn’t take place in the universe created by Christopher Nolan, as it’s doubtful Batman star Christian Bale would even appear.
Warner Bros. going to Affleck for this big project isn’t the biggest surprise — especially in light of the fact that Nolan has said he wouldn’t direct the film.
“I’ve got no plans to do anything more, and certainly, no involvement with any Justice League project,” Nolan stated in an interview last month.
