This week, we are stoked to bring you the talented and passionate “Alexia Jean Grey” who has taken time to answer a few questions in our exclusive interview.

Name: Alexia

Birthplace: Milwaukee Wisconsin
Current: Boca Raton, Florida
Hair Color: Red
Height: Didn’t Say
Weight: Didn’t Say
Hair Length: Long

Brian: Hey Alexia, thank you so much for sparing some time in your busy schedule to talk to us.

Alexia: No problem at all! I am always happy to chit chat about costumes!

Brian: You probably get asked this alot. How and when did you get started in cosplay?

Alexia: Around 5 years ago is when I put on my first suit, over the last couple years is when I really started going to a hefty amount of conventions and collecting more costumes than real clothes in my closet. I always had a love for comics/anime/games growing up, I remember in elementary taping pictures of phoenix and sailor moon inside my deck (I was such a rebel ha!). However I grew up in a smallish town in Wisconsin where nerds come far and few and conventions were like Narnia to find. I had moved to Florida where I met a group of friends who made costumes they also popped my cherry in the convention scene. I’m being the geek and halloween advocate that I was immediately wanted to get dressed up, and the rest grew from there.

Brian: How many costumes have you worn and what is your overall favorite so far?

Alexia: Definitely more than I can count on my hands, I have a lot of wearable costumes however I never stop trying to add more. I update them until I think there exactly what I was looking for in the character or costume. I also buy and save a lot of costume pieces that are from characters I know I will want to do in the future, you could say my closet almost looks like a horder. It’s really hard to pick a favorite since there are elements of each costume that I like for different reasons, it’s like saying who is your favorite band or movie, there all my favorites. If I had to narrow it down though I really love my Black Widow costume, it’s one of my simpler costumes but I really feel like I am walking into a war when I wear it. I love the core of that character, fearless, intelligent, and master of her skill.

Brian: What is your favorite convention that you have been to and why?

Alexia: Each convention is always different from another no matter what area or what size, I love big conventions but the smaller ones seem to be more intimate and I feel like it’s just one big party! As a costumer however I have to give credit to Dragon*Con, it’s the super bowl of costumes and I get to see some of the best in there element. It’s really hard to narrow it down they all hold a special place in my heart.

Brian: Your Batwoman and Black Widow are my favorite of your costumes.. If these two iconic characters ever fought, who would you think will win and why?

Alexia: Batgirl and Black Widow are on about the same level as far as there characters are written so it’s a really a hard choice. I do love you Babz but I think Black Widow would win by a bit. Even though I think Batgirl could put up a good fight, Widow is a master of martial arts and weapons so I feel she has a bit more skill behind her.

Brian: You have worn costumes from both DC and Marvel Comics.which is your favorite brand and characters?

Alexia: I was always a way bigger fan of Marvel when I was younger (Spider-man and X-men were always my top) However in the later years of my life I grew to fall in love with more of DC and more or less the Batman set, even when I was younger I don’t think I could have grasped how well each character in the series is written. Also when your a kid things like flying and superpowers usually catch your eye more than detectives (well at least for me) so for now I say it’s a draw. Though I do have to give the New 52 credit though I thought that is beating Avengers VS X-men.

Brian: Do you consider yourself a Geek or Nerd and why?

Alexia: I consider my self a person with a passion… geek, nerd, weirdo, costumer, goofball, there are to many different words to put it. I am just an artist that get’s to wake up and work in an environment that get’s her creative mind to thrive. I am honestly blessed that I found where I have fit in over the last few years and I would never change it for the world, even with some stress that comes with it, I get to play pretend all the time.

Brian: Who and what is your biggest inspiration in your life?

Alexia: There are many things that drive my imagination everywhere from superheros, to art, to even my kitten when he is running around. There is one person that I always look back upon who I think made me the person who I am today and that was my great grandmother Mimi. To me she was never really the typical grandmother, she was in her 80’s and still would get glammed up and sip gallon sized margaritas. She always gave the best advice and is the real drive to my confidence which still sticks with me even though she has passed. She always told me I was going to be the Marylin Monroe of my time, I was destined to be great, and she could tell through my eyes that I had a heart of gold. Whenever I get down on myself or nervous I always remember her words and how I miss her dearly

Brian: You must have alot of guys asking for your number at the conventions. What is your most craziest encounter at a convention or anywhere?

Alexia: I honestly could write a book about the interesting things that happen or observe at conventions. I am honestly the worst when it comes to odd situations, I usually just giggle and roll it off my shoulders because it’s all in good fun. There my fans and I love them to death the only time I get into really uncomfortable situations is outside of the convention centers/hotels. And anyone who knows me knows I do not have an aggressive personality at all and it takes a lot to offend me but sometimes I have to give them a weird face and ask “did you really just hear what you said?”.

Brian: We recently interviewed one of you’re fellow cosplayers Sonia Aralynn, how did you two meet and do you two have any projects planned together for future cons?

Alexia: Seriously I wonder why I have not met this awesome lady earlier! I remember seeing her at Philly Comic Con and lost her before I could tell her how much I loved her Artemis costume. Later we were both on a site called Hero Hotties and I was fan girling over her photoshoot saying I need to meet her! To my surprise she was at Anime Festival Orlando with a mutual friend (which was so out of the blue considering it’s a smaller convention not many people fly to). I ended up hanging out with her that weekend and again at Dragon*con and I just grew to love her spunky personality. She’s one of those types of people you immediately trust and respect which sometimes is hard to find in the convention world. I really hope we can plan out a few costumes together, I am a big fan of her’s and I think she is an overall amazing person.

Brian: Again, thank you for spending time with us but before we let you go. Final question: if you could meet any character or actor who would it be?
Alexia: Oh my to many but honestly who wouldn’t want to hang out with Deadpool for a day!

Interview w/ Photographer-Extraordinaire Adam Jay!

Just a few days ago I was fortunate enough to get an exclusive interview with the rising star that is Adam Jay of SuperHero Photography. Check It Out Below!!

Name: Adam Jay
Birthday: 02/03/76
Birthplace: Sudbury, England
Height: 6,1
Weight: 189lbs
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Ethnicity: Caucasian

Brian: Well first of all, Thank you so much Adam for giving us the opportunity to talk to you. I’m for one….a HUGE fan of your work.

Adam: Thanks Brian, in all honestly these past few months esp since Venom, it’s been a bit overwhelming!

Brian: I hear that, The Venom Latex pictures were amazingly mindblowing!! Which brings me to the first question, What drew you to photography, especially with cosplaying?

Adam:  Well Ive been doing Photography since late 2008 (I used to teach Pole Dancing !!!). I started out shooting Pole Dancers as that’s what I knew, then started doing all manner of style to see which I liked best. It wasn’t until Dec 2011 that I struck gold with the genre I am now doing. =) I’ve always loved superheroes, cartoons and movies. With this style there is no boundary so I am unlimited in what I can create!

Brian: Sounds like you keep a very busy schedule, You must travel alot, so what locations have you been to and where are you mostly based at?

Adam: Well I’m based in the UK and travel anywhere. I’m one of these people who will go get (I never used to be like this). I hit Miami/Orlando a lot as this is where a lot of Cosplayers/Costumers are. One of my best friends has a studio, image 1st, in Miami so it helps a lot! I would love to get to Australia more, the last two Lara Croft shoots with Jenn have been awesome and we are planing our 4th in the Series for March next year, time to go underwater!!

Brian: What was your first ever photoshoot involving cosplay and how did it go?

Adam: The first one was this:

I was fortunate to have Jim Logan (Wolverine) on my first ever shoot like this, accompanied by Max Powers (now Max Shoots) & Alexia. I said to myself that if the shoot went well then I’ll give myself another 6 months at this to see where it takes me. =)

Brian: And look where it is now…AWESOME!! How many photoshoots have you done since you started and Which one has been your favorite by far?

Adam: WoW now there’s a question! OK well it all started to snowball when I did my Wonder Woman shoot with Sarah Scott in the UK.

Then there was the EPIC Shoot in Orlando with 15 Superheroes!!

The VENOM one obviously is a stand out shoot just because of the reaction but I have to say one of the shoots I really loved was the two latest Lara Croft ones as I got out of the studio and on Location. Take a look and let me know what you think!!! 🙂

Brian: I can’t find the words to describe how amazing the pictures are. Your photos include characters from both the DC and Marvel universe, To you: which is your favorite comic book universe and why?

Adam: You know, I’m still trying to work that out! At the moment, Marvel offer more characters but I feel DC have the darkness and gritty style that suit my photography. Ideally though I want to try lesser known characters also, and not always go mainstream

Brian: Other then your current Lara Croft project and the upcoming Carnage photoshoot, Any other future projects you have planned coming up?

Adam: OoOoO yes, you’re in for a TREAT ! There is one I’m doing next Monday that I can’t say anything about but I’m teaming up with Freddie Nova again (Venom) to create something that I havent seen done yet.

Also I will be working with Devious Body Art & Rage Custom Creations to create a Hulk/Venom Body Paint/Liquid Latex Photo Shoot!

Then in March, I will doing an Underwater Lara Croft shoot with Jenn at he 12 Apostles in Australia.

Brian: Who or What is your biggest inspiration in your work and personal support?

Adam: The people that follow me on my page. I appreciate everyone who comments, suggests, critiques and recommends. I admit, I don’t know everything about photography and the superhero/villain world, I have a lot to learn. At the moment I’m just trying to steam ahead and hope one of the players will notice. I would LOVE to work on an image campaign for an upcoming Superhero movie!

Brian: I recently interview one of your past models Alexia Jean Grey who is an awesome and amazing person. How did you meet her and how was it working with her on the Batgirl/woman photoshoot?

Adam: I met her on my first shoot back in December. All I can say is that she has grown so much in that time and is getting everywhere!! I’ve done a few shoots with her, Phoenix, X-23, Batgirl & Black Widow. She’s very easy to work with and listens to everything you say which helps as a photographer!

Brian: nice, my interview with her will be coming out tommorow 9/21/12, you should check out and share to help promote her, some of your pictures are included in the interview.

Other then your facebook page, what other sites can your fans keep in contact with you or follow?

Adam: Well there is Facebook which is the main one and others:

Brian: And finally the final question, If you can say anything to your fans, family, friends…what would it be?
Adam: I want to thank everyone who has supported me this far and helped create a cool Superhero Photography world. The best is yet to come!

Adam Jay will be at the New York Comic Con for the Venom Photo Shoot on Sat. October 13th at 1.30pm. CHECK IT OUT IF YOUR IN THE AREA and Witness the TALENT that is ADAM JAY!!!

╬D Recommendation: Batman: LIVE

I’ve been hearing about it for awhile… BATMAN LIVE! has finally hit the U.S.

The EPIC show began its tour in the UK in Manchester in summer 2011. The British Isles part of the tour includes venues in England, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. It then launched in North America in Summer 2012.

The plot concerns the origin of Robin and of the Batman and Robin team. It begins with the murder of Bruce Wayne‘s parents in the past and then shows how in the present day he has become the masked vigilante Batman as a result. After his circus acrobat parents are murdered by a gangster during a performance in Gotham City, the orphaned Dick Grayson is put into the care of Bruce Wayne and his faithful butler Alfred byCommissioner Gordon. As the various villains of Gotham team up to defeat their nemesis, Wayne reveals his identity to Grayson and eventually teaches him to properly channel his anger – to seek justice, not revenge. The new pairing is sorely tested when the Joker reveals his masterplan to release the inmates of Arkham Asylum into Gotham and to use Grayson as bait in a final deadly trap for Batman. With the Riddler, the Penguin, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, Scarecrow, Harley Quinn and even Batman’s potential love, the thief Catwoman, all ranged against them as well, the new ‘Dynamic Duo’ faces the ultimate showdown.

In September 2012, Batman Live began touring America, starting in Anaheim, California.

Marvel Hires Writer/Director for "Guardians Of The Galaxy"

James Gunn confrimed to direct Marvel’s Guardains of the Galaxy, one of the films part of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe: PHASE 2

When the news broke that Slither and Super director James Gunn was a top contender to direct Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, it almost seemed too good to be true. A director known for his individual and very strange tastes, taking on a Marvel project that look pretty bizarre to begin with? It was an even bolder move than hiring Kenneth Branagh to direct Thor, or Joss Whedon for The Avengers, and it seemed worth wondering if something so out-there could ever actually pan out.

But never fear, Slither fans! Your man Gunn has confirmed at last that, yes, he really does have the job. Posting on his Facebook page, Gunn wrote that Marvel President Kevin Feige gave him the go-ahead to reveal that he’ll be rewriting and directing Guardians, which is currently set for release August 1, 2014. Here’s what else he had to say:

“As a lifelong lover of Marvel comics, space epics, AND raccoons, this is the movie I’ve been waiting to make since I was nine years old. Kevin, Joss, and all the folks at Marvel have been amazing collaborators so far, and we’re committed to bringing you something majestic, beautiful, and unique. I am incredibly excited. I am also incredibly grateful to the fans and the press for all their words of encouragement and support regarding my involvement with this project since the news first leaked. Thanks – you have, honestly, touched and overwhelmed me. And that’s it for now. Other than the occasional photos of my dog and cat here on Facebook, I’ll talk to you again in August 2014 when Guardians is released!”

Gunn, who has never made a film that made more than $10 million, has an enormous job ahead of him, but Marvel Studios has proven surprisingly adept at working with less experienced directors and helping them deliver projects that, almost every single time, work out better than you’d ever expect. Gunn is likely to be in radio silence as he develops the story– those pesky Marvel people and their love of secrecy!– but, with a release date less than two years away, it won’t be all that long before we start seeing just what he and Guardians have in store for us.

Weekly Pull List 9/19/12

Election season got you sick and tired of partisan politics?  Well the Templar Digital Team is here with the endorsement to end all endorsements:  Captain America for President, for Truth, Justice and the American Way!  (…wait, that’s Supes.  Think we can get him on the ticket, too?)

Ultimates #15– Rogers 2012?  Well, apparently over in the Ultimate Universe, the United States has split apart, and Captain America has been elected President to put everything back together.  (Is his VP Luke Cage?  This IS a Bendis comic, after all…)

The Mighty Thor #20– Everything Burns, part 4.  Thor is trapped, betrayed by his brother.  And Loki’s schemes begin to come to fruition.  Will he have his grand revenge?

UNTOLD TALES OF THE PUNISHER MAX #4–  The Punisher takes on human trafficking in this issue penned by the excellent Nathan Edmondson.

Batwoman #0: See how Kate Kane shed her life of excess and disgrace to become the costumed vigilante known as Batwoman! • Has she truly put her demons to rest?

Wonder Woman #0: A facet of the past is revealed – and a foe is introduced! • How did Wonder Woman become a star pupil of Ares?

Penguin: Pain and Prejudice (Trade): Thanks to writer Gregg Hurwitz and artist Szymon Kudranski,Penguin finally has his own version of THE KILLING JOKE. I know those are big words, but they are also true words. Hurwitz mines the darkest depths of Penguin’s mind to produce a series that is truly astounding. In fact, you might even find yourself feeling sympathy for the character whenever Batman bursts in to ruin his day. Now that’s powerful writing.

Likewise, Kudranski’s artwork is appropriately dark and moody, perfectly complementing the tone of Hurwitz’s story. PENGUIN: PAIN AND PREJUDICE is a near perfect melding of words and art, leading to one of the year’s best character examinations.

I loved the series as it came out in single issues, and now it’s available as a collected trade paperback. If you’ve never really been a big fan of the Penguin, this is the book to turn you around on the character. Just don’t expect a happy resolution.

Justice League #0: Billy Batson takes center stage in this issue as he unleashes the awesome power of Shazam in a special origin story! • Also featuring the not-to-be-missed origin of Pandora and the next seeds of TRINITY WAR!

Catwoman #0: The secret origin of Selina Kyle! • Major shocks are in store for Catwoman this year – and this is just the beginning!

Birds of Prey #0: The first meeting of Black Canary and Batgirl…is not at all what you expect! • After Team 7, how did the Birds of Prey come to be?

Nightwing #0: It’s the origin of Dick Grayson in The New 52! • From orphan to super hero – it’s all here!

Red Hood and The Outlaws #0: Learn how Jason Todd came back to life after being killed by The Joker. • Do you really need another reason to check out this issue?

Supergirl #0: On the eve of Krypton’s destruction, who sent Supergirl from Krypton to Earth – and why? The answer is not what you think! • Plus: Learn the answer to a mystery that’s been driving Supergirl mad for months: Who shot her father, Zor-El?!
